Proceedings of the City Council Meeting Last Night.
The School Committee Finds no Evidence to Sustain Charges Against a Teacher in the Public Schools – The Name of Line Street Changed to Jeff Davis Avenue – Plans and Specifications for Two New Engine Houses – A Resolution in Honor of Mr. Davis
The City Council met in regular session at 7:30 o’clock last night. There were present Thomas H. Carr, president, and Alderman Tyson, Hale, Clisby, Lemle, Watts, Fuller, Joseph, Crommelin and Jennings.
Alderman Watts, from the Committee on Schools reported the evidence and the Committee’s conclusions as to charges brought against a teacher in the public schools. The Committee found that the charges had been in no manner sustained and that no blame attaches to the teacher.
The petition from property owners and residents on Line street, asking that the name of that street be changed to Jefferson Davis Avenue, was presented by Alderman Clisby and granted by an unanimous vote of the council.
