MAURY TO BE HONORED ON FIRST PAGEANT DAY
Place Marker Thin Morning on Spot Where Memorial to “Pathfinder of Seas” Will Stand.
Participation of the Matthew Fontaine Maury Memorial Association in the six days’ exercises commemorating the history of Virginia from the time of the first permanent English settlement in the New World to the present, will consist of placing a marker on the spot where, in June, during the Confederate Reunion, the cornerstone of the proposed monument to the “Pathfinder of the Seas” will be laid.
The marker will be placed this morning at 10 o’clock, prior to the pageant parade. The spot selected is on Monument Avenue, at the intersection of the continuation of Franklin Street, west of the Boulevard, two blocks from the Stonewall Jackson monument. Mrs. E. P. Moffitt is president of the Matthew Fontaine Maury Association.
