Models Submitted In Monument Contest On View At Museum Of Art

MODELS of heroic statues of Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. (Stonewall) Jackson submitted recently in the limited contest for the $100,000 bronze equestrian monument are shown in the photographs.

At the top is the model submitted by Hans Schuler, of Baltimore, and that at the right is the work of Edward McCartan, of New York, awarded second prize in the contest.

First prize was won by the model submitted by Mrs. Laura Garden

Fraser, also of New York.

The contest was conducted to determine the sculptor for the bronze monument for which the late J. Henry Ferguson left $100,000. To be erected in Wyman Park, the statue is a monument to the two leaders who Mr. Ferguson said were his

“boyish heroes.”

The models are on exhibition at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
