SEVEN REASONS WHY THE WHITE MAN’S PARTY WILL WIN.

“Upon what do you base your faith of success next Tuesday?” asks a friend

1. In one precinct in Pamlico where there were sixty Populists in 1896 there are only three now. In every Eastern county the Populists have come over by the hundred and in every Central and Western county by the score. The Populist State Chairman, Congressman Strowd, Hon. E. A. Thorne, Senator Atwater and other Populist leaders are actively at work against Fusion. Guthrie got 32,000 votes for Governor. At least 16,000 of the men who voted for Guthrie in 1896 will Vote with Guthrie in 1898 for White, Supremacy.
2. In one voting precinct in Stokes county there are 20 lifelong Republicans who will vote for White Supremacy. In Wake there are a number of leading white Republicans who will not vote the Fusion ticket. This its true of every county in the State. Day by day in these columns have appeared letters from Republicans of prominence and humble followers of McKinley declaring that they will not be parties to perpetrating Negro Rule. In all counties the Republicans who will repudiate Negroism are numbered by the, score. In some counties there are more than a hundred. How many there will be, it is difficult to predict, but there will be enough of them added to the Democratic and patriotic Populist vote to insure a victory for Anglo-Saxon rule in November,
3. The citizens of Northern birth, who have built factories, started truck farms and gone into business are almost without exception terribly in earnest in advocacy of White Supremacy. They want protection to property and personal liberty, they want peace and amity: they want such safe and stable conditions as will enhance the value of their property and make their Investments pay. They know that where the men who pay 95 per cent of the taxes have no voice whatever in government, the administration of affairs is not in the best hands.
4. There are four or five thousand men who belong to the National Prohibition party in North Carolina. This year, led by such men as Dr. Benbow, they will vote almost in a body for the White Man’s ticket. They know that they can get decent and honest State government in no other way.
5. Lastly, the Old Guard of the Democratic party is united, aroused, determined. With their patriotic allies from other parties, they know no such word as fall when failure means the continuance of corrupt and Incompetent negro rule in North Carolina.
6. The great crowds that have attended the rallies of the White Man’s party means something. Four years ago Democrats spoke to people in gatherings numbered by scores. In 1896 the biggest crowds were numbered by hundreds. This year the white men’ meetings have been attended by thousands. At every place there have been men of other parties enthusiastic for White Supremacy, and the women of the State have everywhere held up the hands of the men as Aaron and Ur held up the, hands of Moses. These meetings, almost, always opened with prayer by Christian ministers who give their help and their prayers to the cause, and graced by the fair women of the state, have kindled an enthusiasm that has swept from seashore to mountain, reaching and ennobling almost all the white voters of North Carolina.
7. The people have not only heard the issues discussed, they have read the takes of the burdens laid upon the backs of their Eastern brethren, and in the quiet of their homes have towed a row to help to restore Anglo-Saxon supremacy in the only State or country in the world where the negro rules the white man. The printed truths of negro rule, illustrated by striking cartoons, have impressed the men, women and children of every neighborhood until the desire to put at end to negro rule animates all ages of both sexes.

These are the seven reasons – seven is a favorite biblical and therefore is a good augury that make us confident of the success of the Democratic cause in North Carolina next Tuesday.
