
Daniels Memorial
The Senate agreed with the House yesterday that a commission should study the matter of erecting a monument to Josephus Daniels, editor of The News and Observer, who died last year.
Under suspension of rules, the Senate unanimously passed a House resolution calling on Governor Scott to appoint a seven-man commission to study the proposal and report back to the 1951 General Assembly.
The resolution was introduced Monday night by Rep. L. A. Martin of Davidson, and was passed by the House at the time of its introduction.
Daniels served as Secretary of the Navy under Woodrow Wilson. and was Ambassador to Mexico under Roosevelt.
