MERRITT TO WHOM MERIT IS DUE.
This is to certify that the author of the article entitled “Janitor Westmoreland’s Piece of Pie,” which appeared in to-day’s News and Observer, has laid Baron Munchausen in the shade, and be should now be recognized as the chief liar of all Christendom. As further proof of the above charge, see his reference to H. L. Wyatt, member of the Edgecombe Guards, in last Friday’a issue of that paper.
And further, I had rather be janitor of the Supreme Court building than to be lick-spittle in the house of Josephus Daniels.
J. F. WESTMORELAND.
June 16.
