RAISE FUNDS FOR MAURY MONUMENT

The first meeting to consider ways and means of carrying through the project of the Matthew Fontaine Maury monument, to be located on Monument avenue, will be held by the finance committee of the Matthew Fontaine Maury Association on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock in the Mayo house, corner of Franklin and Jefferson streets, Gus M. Schwarzchild, chairman of the finance committee, announced today.

Of the $60,000 required to erect the monument according to the accepted model of William F. Sievers, $27,500 remains to be raised. The finance committee, recently appointed, is expected to take steps to raise this sum in the next few months so that work on the project will not be delayed.

The finance committee is composed of the following, besides Mr. Schwarz-child: John Kerr Branch, John Stuart Bryan, Jonathan Bryan, Rev. G. M. Brydon, George Bryan, P. J. Carlton. Joseph A. Dart, Douglas S. Freeman, O. H. Funsten, Emanuel H. Gunst, Thomas B. Howell, Julian H. Hill, Luther H. Jenkins, Herbert W. Jackson, Henry E. Litchford. L Z. Morris, Stuart MeGuire, John M. Mil-ler, Jr. William T. Reed, Leslie H. Reed, Webster• S. Rhoads, Fred W. Scott, Walker Scott, Angus O. Swink, Granville G. Valentine, Bradford H. Walker, Albert Y. Waddey, Edward J. willls, T. C.
