Daughters Of Confederacy Issue A Finely Executed Memorial Volume.
To perpetuate the memory of the unveiling of the Confederate monument on Mt. Royal avenue, in this city, on May 2, 1903. the Daughters of the Confederacy in the State of Maryland have issued a beautifully gotten-up little volume, giving a complete history of the proceedings and ceremonies that attended the unveiling. The booklet is bound in red and a remarkably well-executed portrait of the monument, with the flowers and crowd in attendance on the day of the ceremony, forms the frontisplece. On the front cover, in letters of gold, are the words “Gloria Victis,” with these dates: “1861-1865.” Beginning with the singing of “Dixie,” the recital of the Apostles’ Creed and the prayer by the Rev.
William M. Dame, the whole story of the day is published in the book, the oration of Captain MeHenry Howard being given in full, and every detail of the exercises arranged in the order in which they were carried out.
