GEORGIA TABLE ADDS $168
Confederate Bazar Receipts Further Increased.
At the final meeting of the chairmen of the Confederate Bazar yesterday $168 was added to the sum already handed in by the Georgia table, making a total of $935. Part of this additional sum was the result of the Gubernatorial contest, representing 700 votes for Mr. Edwin Warfield, thus increasing his majority to 840 votes. Although these votes came too late for the formal count, yet through the generosity of Mr. Warfield’s friends and advocates the money is added to the proceeds of the Georgia table. It thus accomplishes a double purpose, in doing honor to one living man, who is counted worthy of being trusted with Maryland’s welfare, and in cherishing the memory of those silent heroes who so many years ago gave their lives to her service.
The bazar ticket money handed in yesterday amounted to $1,028, with all returns not yet in.
The two beautiful curtains loaned to the “Cozy Corner” of the Texas table by Minch & Eisenbrey and removed by some unauthorized person have not yet been returned. In case they should not be recovered the members of the firm have generously indicated that they will make no charge for them.
It is expected that in a few days the committee on the selection of a design for the Confederate monument will meet the Municipal Art League to confer on the subject.
