New Confederate Monument
Elberton Replaces “Dutch” Figure Removed Two Years Ago.

Elberton, GA., April22.—A bronze figure of a Confederate solider was placed on the Confederate monument in the center of the public square, to take the place of the “Dutch” figure destroyed by unknown parties some two years ago, and buried by side of the base of the monument. The ladies of the memorial association got up the fund for the purchase of the figure and it will be commemorated at the regular memorial exercises to be held April 26. The address will be delivered by Dr. R. J. Bigham, who will be introduced by Mrs. S. P. Rampley, a member of Jeff Davis chapter.
