Firm Thanked For Cleaning Monument

The Matthew Fontaine Maury Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy is using this means of thanking Mr. A. P. Grappone and his firm for their gracious gesture and timely services in erasing the vandals’ painted words from the monument honoring Matthew Fontaine Maury, the “Path-finder of the Seas.”

This monument is one of the most beautiful in Richmond, and it is noted with pleasure that it is the work of Richmond’s own, world – famous artist, Mr. William F. Sievers, Who is not only a famous artist but a widely read and cultured “gentleman of the old school.”
