MAURY TO BE HONORED
During the Confederate reunion in Richmond on June 20, the exact day and hour to be announced later, the corner stone of a projected $60.000 monument to the memory of Matthew Fontaine Maury will be laid on Monument avenue in Richmond two squares from the Stonewall Jackson monument. The Maury Memorial association, of which Mrs. E. E. Moffitt, Richmond, is president, has charge of the exercises. The address of the occasion will be delivered by A.B. Chandler Jr., president of the State Normal school, Fredericksburg. President Chandler for many years has been much interested in establishing a suitable memorial to this neglected, but great Virginian and American, and has in the past few years delivered several addresses and published a bulletin on the life and; services of Commodore Maury, who was born a few miles from Fredericksburg.
