MARYLAND, CONFEDERATE DEAD.
The movement to erect a monument to Maryland’s Confederate dead received an earnest impetus yesterday at the meeting of the Daughters of the Confederacy in this city. It was decided to organize the whole of the Baltimore Chapter into fifty subcommittees with auxiliary committees in the counties, and to arrange a vigorous plan of campaign for the collection of funds for the proposed memorial in Druid Hill Park. This virtually assures the success of this commendable project, for ladies have a way of accomplishing what they set out to do, and the Confederate Daughters are an unusually determined and energetic set of women. Every one who honors valor and unselfish devotion to principle will wish them god-speed and lend them a helping hand.
