TO HONOR WOMEN

Delegation Of D. Of C. Urge Appropriation For Southern Women’s Memorial.

A committee of about 20 women, representing the Daughters of the Confederacy in Maryland, went to An-rapolis this morning to urge the passage of a bill appropriating $12,000 for the erection of a Maryland Confederate Woman’s Monument. The bill has been introduced at the instance of the Maryland Confederate Woman’s Monument Commission composed of Gen. A. C. Trippe, James R. Wheeler, R. Curzon Hoffman, Bartlett S. Johnston and Thomas B. Gresham.

Mrs. D. Giraud Wright, president of the Baltimore division of the society, headed the delegation that went to Annapolis. The hearing was before the Ways and Means Committee, and as soon as a speech was read setting forth to the legislators what the women wanted, they returned to Baltimore. Already six Southern States have erected monuments to Confederate women.
